Other useful and interesting graveyard and cemetery related photography sites and resources
- Gravestone Weathering
A site by Dr Rob Inkpen Dr Inkpen, of the University of Portsmouth, has created a
very interesting site which talks about how gravestones provide a useful means of observing and measuring the degradation of different
types of rock over relatively long periods of time (100 to 300 or more years).
- Ohio Trespassers
Urban Exploration Welcome to the world of urban exploration. Ohio Trespassers examines abandoned and
derelict hospitals, asylums, factories and other fascinating places. The site is filled with extraordinary photographs of abandonment
and faded glory, including cemeteries and graveyards. There are extensive links to other similar sites, with more graves.
- Xroyvision's Cemetery Index
Xroyvision is an extensive Australian site. This link will take you straight to its Cemetery Index, where you
will find numerous further links to a number of cemetery and grave related sites. It's well worth browsing the rest of this interesting
site.
- London Cemeteries
London Cemeteries is an almost-complete project to create a photographic record of visits
to all 100+ cemeteries in London, England. Sue Bailey has set herself quite a task but she's well on the way with her
enormous task, and the site is a must-see.
- harddaysnight72's photos
A lady called Julie Roof got in touch with me regarding her own graveyard and cemetery
photographs. She's from Ohio and has some good photographs from her area. Worth a look to see how things
are done differently over in the States,
- Tom Kincaid's cemetery site. Tom says "I never set out to create a body of
work of cemetery photos; it just evolved. I used to do a lot of traveling and among other subjects, just somehow ended up shooting
cemeteries wherever I went. And now, it's only sporadically that I find the time, opportunity, and initiative to do a shoot." His
site contains some lovely monochrome cemetery pictures from places as diverse as Vienna, New York, Prague and Hawaii, in a style very
different to my own, and which are well worth a look.
- London Burials is David Orme's examination of burial grounds (some long gone)
rather than cemeteries. Some fascinating stuff to learn about.
- The Churches Of Britain and Ireland, Steve Bulman's site, who says "The ultimate aim is to have at least one photo of every existing church in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands, and where possible, photos or artwork of churches no longer in existence. The current tally is now almost 3550 churches."
- Emma Vachos got in touch to tell me that although she's been photographing graves for a while, she has only very recently
started up her website. She takes a very different approach to her photography than I do, and her site is well worth a look.
- www.adhonorem.com is a collection of fine monochrome cemetery images from places as far apart as Austria, the UK, and the USA
- The churches of St. Peter & St Paul (Ashford Hill with Headley) and St MaryĆs in Kingsclere have just launched their website at www.clerewoodlands.org.uk. Do try to take alook at this attractive site.
- Atlantic View Social and Event Photography and Videography. OK, not exactly related to graves, admittedly, but it's about photography, which is what UKGraves features. And anyway, Atlantic View is the family social and event photography company run by Mr UKGraves and his daughter, based in Newbury. We cover weddings, christenings, and indeed any sort of social event, in still and/or high-definition video, and our prices are extraordinarily competitive.
